Loop prevention

Need some feedback from the experts. What would happen if a loop it created downstream from your network which is not under your control. I understand that a broadcast storm is most likely and that storm control is a mechinism to control this. However does anyone have some out of box thinking solution to prevent this loop same as you would do with STP, block entire port when a loop is detected. I dont think STP would work in this case as the loop is not actaully created on my domain but futher downstream. Even if i use BUM filters the broadcast will always remain, for example when there is an ARP requested, it will forever loop and my infratructure will recieve the ARP loop. The issue is not related to ARP i am only using an example of a broadcast.
